The fellow will lead the twice a week case conferences held on Monday and Wednesday to review the upcoming surgical cases. The fellow is responsible for review of the patient chart, history & physical exam summary, and review of pertinent imaging as part of the presentation. Pre-operative Virtual Planning software will be used for arthroplasty cases. Key aspects of the anticipated surgical plan will be discussed.
Monday morning conference with Ross Wodicka, MD and Andrew Levy, MD focused on the ASES Curriculum established with OrthoBullets.
There is a quarterly regional journal club (4 sessions). The fellow is responsible for assigning a subject and choosing 5-6 articles for one journal club. Journal Club invitations will be extended to orthopaedic surgeons around the tri-county region. Articles facilitate discussion and case presentations are encouraged.
Case conference reviews can be arranged with our Musculoskeletal Radiologist, Hugh Jones, MD. Key cases will be reviewed. MRI and CT Scans need to be available and preferably uploaded onto the PACs server to facilitate the conference.
Since no formal morbidity and mortality conference takes place at our institution, informal didactic discussions will occur throughout the year. During post-operative clinic review of the previous week’s cases will take place with discussions focused on radiographic findings and clinical progress.
Every other Wednesday. Fellow should be prepared to discuss progress in all research projects which the fellow is involved. Active participation in discussions of ongoing research projects will take place together with the entire shoulder/elbow research team.
